It’s the perfect season for grilling outside, but what if you have no clue what you’re doing behind the grill? With the apps below you’ll find out how to get recipes, master techniques, and time your food just right. These apps are sure to help you go from an amateur to a BBQ master in no time!
Paprika
Before we start actually making any food, you need recipes. I’ve talked about the recipe collection app Paprika for a long time. I mentioned it on the App Factor Podcast way back in episode 1 and also let David Sparks know it was one of my favorite home screen apps.
Paprika gives you a great way to store all your recipes in one app with cloud sync between devices. Two of my favorite features of Paprika are the Share extension and the grocery list option. The Share extension lets you navigate to most food and recipe websites and clip a recipe from the website into the app, laying out both ingredients and instructions.
The grocery list option allows you to take any recipe and add the ingredients into your grocery list (which lets you to check items off as you buy them). Paprika is invaluable for gathering your favorite recipes (whether through their share extension or built in web browser), planning meals for your upcoming week, and to get inspired!

Weber Grills
Now that you know what you want to grill, next you’ll need an actual grill to cook your food. Weber has been making grills for a long time, and their Weber Grills app is a complete guide to the BBQ.
Not only can you view their full line of beautiful grills, you can also set timers, get incredible recipes and learn how to actually cook from their Grill Skills videos and articles. I found the Grill Skills section very helpful when cooking items I hadn’t cooked before.
The UI is easy to navigate and even with all the information they include, the app is currently free.

GrillTime
If you want another more meat and potatoes type app for grilling, you should check out GrillTime. GrillTime helps you set multiple timers for all the food on your grill, so you can make sure nothing gets burnt!
In addition, GrillTime is a great guide for techniques on how to cook tons of different foods at the right temperatures. It details everything from how to grill the more traditional burgers and steaks, to more rarely grilled items like strawberries.
When you’re cooking for a large number of folks who want varying meats and veggies, this app is perfect for keeping it together.

The Photo Cookbook – Barbecue Grilling
If you’re a more visual learner, The Photo Cookbook – Barbecue Grilling is perfect. There are over 70 stunning recipes included, and this app is sure to make your mouth water after looking at all the different photos of the food.
The premise behind The Photo Cookbook series is that in their beautifully designed apps you get a step by step guide with pictures on exactly how to make all of the different recipes. This makes these apps the perfect beginner’s guide on how to cook virtually anything, especially when you can see how it’s supposed to look.
If the group you’re cooking for is of age, they even have a photo cookbook dedicated to making your own drinks!

Grill-It!
The first app I ever downloaded to learn how to grill was Grill-It! Years later, this app still is one of my favorites due to how the people behind it write in a very down to earth way.
This app has all the standard grilling fare, and also includes starters and sides like a delicious Bruschetta, S’mores, and more all done on the grill.
If you’re looking for a great companion app to Weber Grills and don’t want to break the bank, Grill-It! is just 99 cents!
