For many people the iPhones in our pockets have replaced the need to carry around a regular full-size camera. While the iPhone itself is typically all you need to start capturing great photos, there are a few iPhone camera accessories that can help take your iPhone photography to the next level.
I came across the Shoulderpod a few weeks ago when looking for a versatile mount that would work with both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. When searching, I came across Austin Mann’s recommendation and decided to order one.
The first thing I noticed was how sturdy the Shoulderpod is. The threads are high quality and it stays put on any tripod I throw at it. It also comes with a separate attachment that works as a filmmaker handle. The high quality strap also lets you secure the Shoulderpod around your wrist or any belt for easy portability.
If you regularly use a stand for your iPhone, the Shoulderpod doubles as one so that’s one less accessory you have to tote around while traveling.
The Shoulderpod supports any smartphone between 48 to 93mm, which means virtually any iPhone is supported, including the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. My iPhone 6s Plus even fits with a case on it.

JOBY GripTight GorillaPod Magnetic
The GorillaPod is one of the most versatile tripod stands ever created. JOBY makes many different iterations of them, but the magnetic variant is my favorite.
Not only can you wrap it around virtually any surface, you can use the feet themselves to stick the GripTight to any magnetic surface. The GorillaPod Magnetic supports up to .7 pounds (11.5 ounces or 325 grams) which definitely puts the iPhone 6s Plus and any model underneath it well within range.
That being said, I don’t particularly care for the mounts that come with the GripTight series of tripods. I’ve always found them flimsy and would never trust them to hold my iPhone in any compromising type of position. Instead, I swap out the mount for one of my own choice — typically the Shoulderpod or a Glif.

Note: The version I’ve linked to above comes with a different universal mount, which may be slightly higher quality than the version that comes with those that ship directly from JOBY. If you happen to pick one up, I’d love to know in the comments how the mount is.
The Olloclip is a 4-in-1 lens system for your iPhone that lets you shoot wide-angle, fisheye, and macro (10 and 15x). Each lens is labeled so you know which one is which. Just snap the one you’d like over the top of your iPhone so it aligns with your camera, and you’re all set.
The newer variants of Olloclip also allow you to use them with the front-facing camera as well (iPhone 6/6 Plus and newer). Olloclip offers several color variants to match to your iPhone as well as a carrying case and/or lanyard for easy transport.
I’ve come across many times where I couldn’t get everything I wanted to in a single frame and the Olloclip’s wide-angle lens allowed me to with ease. It’s by far my most used out of the four.

Glif tripod mount and stand
The Glif is a great tripod mount and stand for anyone on a budget, and with minimal needs. When I say minimal, I mean you don’t need a full-size tripod and only need a tripod mount on rare occasions.
I’ve found the Glif to work great for recording video on a table and as a substitute mount with my GripTight Gorillapod. Studio Neat also recently revamped the Glif’s design so it fits all models of iPhone, including the 6s and 6s Plus. And in case you’re wondering, you’ll be able to use Glif’s updated version with any smartphone that falls between 58 and 86mm wide.

MeFOTO RoadTrip tripod and SideKick 360 mount
For iPhone photographers that want something a little more serious that can be used with regular DSLRs as well as smartphones, I can’t recommend MeFOTO’s line of tripods enough. I’ve been traveling all over the world with the RoadTrip edition and I couldn’t be happier.
Not only do you get an extremely high-quality carrying case, the tripod itself is lightweight, easy to fold down (seriously takes me seconds), and comes with an Arc-Swiss Ballhead that can’t be beat. It’s one of the smoothest and most adjustable tripods I’ve ever owned.
You can also buy the Sidekick attachment if you’d like so you can attach your iPhone. But since MeFOTO uses standard thread sizes, you can attach virtually any mount you’d like, including the ones I previously mentioned in this article.
Just note that there are two different SideKick mounts, the Plus is for larger smartphones such as the iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6 Plus. The regular version of the SideKick should fit iPhone 6 and smaller.
