If you’re running iOS 9 on your iPhone, you now have the option of sharing and/or saving voicemail messages however you’d like. You can message them to someone else, save them to Evernote or Dropbox, and even transfer them to the Voice Memos app, which can really come in handy if you have have a few that you always want to keep safe.
While we were out to dinner last night, my partner got a voicemail on her iPhone. After listening to it, she noticed that she now had a new share button that showed up next to all her iPhone voicemails. She tested it by sending me a voicemail she received via the Messages app. I received it just fine and was able to play it back right in the Messages app of my iPhone. I also had options to share and save it from right there.
How to forward, share, or save iPhone voicemails in iOS 9
- Launch the Phone app and tap on the Voicemail tab.
- Tap on the voicemail message you want to share.
- Tap on the new Share button.
- Share the message however you’d like, or save it to another app, whatever you want.
This is good to know considering most carriers limit the amount of voicemails you can store. And if you’re anything like me, you have a lot of old messages you’d like to save from friends, family members, or maybe even someone that isn’t with us anymore. Whatever the reason, now you aren’t limited by storage since you can literally transfer them to any iOS app that supports .m4a files.
So glad they finally did this. Anybody know why there is no option to save the voicemails to the Box app even though I have the app installed in iOS 9.0.2? Your screen shot shows Dropbox is available for sharing vmails, and I have it available on my iPhone as well, but need to use Box.
also, when forwarding a voice message, does it show up anywhere that a voice mail has been forwarded? I am looking for some type of confirmation that it was forwarded. For example when you forward an email you get a mail sent copy. Is there something similar with forwarding voice messages (on iPhone)?
This looks great, thanks! But what do I do if I want to do this in bulk? I have hundreds on my iphone. I really don’t want to do it one by one.
