TikTok has quickly taken over the social media world. Essentially an extension of the Vine idea, TikTok has become an incredible source for short, usually comedic videos. Even if you don’t use the service, you’ve probably seen it on other platforms.
Even if you do use the service, we’re willing to bet that there are many things you don’t know about it. TikTok shockingly offers an extensive list of features that puts most other social media networks to shame. Even power users probably haven’t scratched the surface of everything that’s available.
With that in mind, here are just a few TikTok hacks for iPhone you need to know about.
Hide Users and Sounds
TikTok is one of the best social media platforms for hiding and blocking content. That may sound like a strange honor, but you really start to appreciate the controls it offers.
In fact, TikTok allows you to not only hide content from certain users but hide content with certain sounds as well. When a video appears on your feed, perform a “long hold” on it. This will bring up a “More” option. From there, you’ll be able to either hide videos from that user or videos featuring a similar sound.
Please note that this only works on the TikTok home screen. It also won’t “block” those uploads but rather hide them from your feed.
Hide Liked TikTok Videos
Embarrassed by some of your liked TikTok videos? Do you prefer that information stays private? Thankfully, it’s surprisingly easy to hide that information from others.
To do so, go to the “Settings” tab and choose “Privacy.” From there, there should be a setting for “Who can view your liked videos.” If you choose the “only me” option, only you will be able to see your liked videos. You can also choose to make them available only to your friends or to everyone.
Prevent Video Downloads
Generally, having people download your TikTok videos can be a good thing. It helps increase their reach and is a sign people enjoy them. However, there are other times when your videos can be downloaded and used for nefarious purposes.
If you’d rather nobody download your videos, then you’ll need to go to the Profile section. From there, choose the “More” option. Select Privacy and Safety and scrolls to the Safety area. You should see an option for “Allow your videos to be downloaded,” which you can swap from “on” to “off.”
Convert TikTok Videos Into Live Wallpapers
Yes, it is possible to turn a TikTok video into a live iPhone wallpaper. Sadly, though, this process is a little more tricky than it probably needed to be.
To start, you’ll need to tap the “Share” option on the video you want to turn into a wallpaper. From there, choose the “Live Photo” option on the second row that appears. This should turn it into a live photo that will be in your device’s Photos area.
Go to the Photos area, choose the recently downloaded live photo, select the share icon, and tap “Use as Wallpaper.” You’ll then need to play with the photo’s dimensions and settings in order to ensure it becomes a proper wallpaper.
Report Users and Content
Sometimes, some inappropriate content finds its way to TikTok. What you consider inappropriate is up to you, but it’s generally a good idea to report such uploads.
While that is possible, the report feature is hidden in a somewhat strange place. You actually have to select the “Share” feature on the video you want to report. From there, the “Report” button should appear below social media share options. We’re not sure why this doesn’t have its own area, but it’s nice to know it’s there.
Test New TikTok Content Early
Are you interested in trying out the latest TikTok content ahead of everyone else? It’s actually possible to do so by becoming a tester.
In order to join that program, select the “Me” section on the app. From there, choose the menu icon on the top right. You should see an option to “Join TikTok Testers.” If you don’t already have Apple’s TestFlight app installed, you’ll be asked to install it. Once that’s done, you should be able to install the available beta by selecting “Start Testing.”
Hide Certain Comments Using Keywords
Comments can be a wonderful thing. They can also be an awful thing. Usually, you tend to have to take the bad with the good. However, TikTok does offer a way to get the jump on bad comments by hiding comments with certain keywords.
Go to your feed and navigate to your profile section. Select the “Privacy and Settings” option. From there, you should see an option for Filter by Keywords. You can now choose the keywords you want to address. Any comments containing those keywords will be hidden from your feed.
Translate Comments
Speaking of comments, have you ever received a comment in a foreign language? Usually, you’d have to manually copy and paste that comment in order to translate it. However, TikTok offers a much quicker way to access that translation.
Simply press and hold the comment you want to translate. From there, you should receive a pop-up option which lets you translate the information. The app will automatically translate it into whatever the default language on your device is.
Link TikTok to Apple Music
Do you wish you could immediately access your Apple music for your TikTok videos? It’s actually possible to do just that, but you’ll need to follow a few steps first.
Open the TikTok app and choose the profile option in the bottom right. Select the “More” area in the top right corner. From there, navigate to Accessibility and choose the Connect to Apple Music selection. You should now be able to instantly access your Apple Music collection when you upload a video.
Download a Video Without Watermarks
Sometimes, those TikTok watermarks and other visual impairments can get in the way of a video. It turns out that it’s actually possible to remove those watermarks from a downloaded video. You’ll just need a little outside help to do so.
First, copy the link of the video you want to download. From there, you’ll need to go to this downloader website (https://ttdownloader.com/). By downloading the video through that filter, you’ll be able to automatically remove watermarks.
