If you’ve ever posted a tweet only to notice you made a mistake, you have two options — leave the tweet as it is, or delete it and start over. To make the process a little easier, you can copy the tweet, delete it, paste it into a new tweet, make changes, and repost.
Or, you can use Twitterrific for iPhone and iPad to edit tweets in just a few taps. Behind the scenes Twitterrific is doing the same thing you would do manually (copy, delete, repost), but it does it all behind the scenes, which makes it easier for you.
- Tap on the tweet you’d like to edit to reveal your options.
- Tap on the overflow menu which is the last option.
- Tap on Delete and Edit Tweet in the popup menu.
- Edit the tweet and then tap Tweet or Reply and you’re done.
There’s one slight catch when it comes to editing tweets with Twitterrific. Since the app is technically reposting your tweet, it won’t show up in the same place in your timeline as it was before. That means if anyone has responded to the original tweet or favorited it, it will disappear. The new, edited tweet doesn’t actually take its place. It deletes it and posts a new one at whatever time you made the changes.
Unfortunately, it’s the only way, at least until Twitter allows true edit functionality. Until then, give this a try and let me know how it works for you!
